- Key benefits: reduce injury, health, personal development
- After 20 minutes of physical activity - brain mapping shows brains firing, active, and ready to learn
- Parent parking is difficult; parents do not follow expected procedures for student safety - using crosswalk, parking in designated/proper areas, adhering to school requests.
- Ideas - walk/bike to school incentives; notifications for parents (through iPad app, volunteer, and scanner tags)
- Public Works - will allow painting of crosswalks; Dave Mumford can be contacted
- Way-finding signage
- We are a "Non-Funded" Title I school - losing 3 staff members that impact kids every day
- Looking for ways to fund our House system and Professional Development for staff to attend the Ron Clark Academy initiatives.
- PTA discussed the SUV Raffle Tickets - on sale until October 24th to fund PD for teachers. Possible PTA vs. Teachers
- Night at the Oasis - Parents can check out the above mentioned raffle tickets to sell for $10 each - of which $6 goes to school

- Reviewed Sealants for Smiles - over 50% of student body received sealants
- Ever After Events kicked off our Read-A-Thon; all money due this week
- Pictures taken and individual photos sent home
- Last meeting approved Movie Night @ $500 - Niemeyer purchased licensing for the school for one year. This covers all studios except FOX. Cost was $491 total. Will PTA reimburse? Motion passed
- 5th grade going to NAIA basketball tournament to cheer on Cumberland University
Secretary Report
Unfinished Business:
- Winter Carnival Review - $3,175.35 (-$225 profit to PTA) given to teachers; prompt action - thanks to Dawn! $387 profited from dinner donated by Famous Dave's;
- Spring Fundraiser - to discuss next time
New Business:
- Chairs - purchase 51+ per year over the next 3 years (150-170 chairs as goal at 2,400 dollars total) - - - Use spring fundraiser for chairs and garbage can (@ $500 out front). Motion passes
- Miss O'Mara mini grant - add onto Pebble Go! Currently have Animals data base and would like Biographies. Can add people as history changes rather than buying specific persons. Motion passes
- Properties being brought to field behind Sartorie Farms between them and Medicine Crow Middle School. Zoned for single family homes and builder is trying to get it REzoned to put multiple homes. To voice concerns and be a part of the process, attend the meeting on Tuesday, March 27th @ 9:45am in room 403 at the County Courthouse.

Beginning of the year Fundraiser
We will be selling BRAX Spirit Cups this year. These come in sets of 4 for a 16oz. cup or 2 for a cup with a lid - perfect for traveling. These cups are adorned with your favorite NFL, MLB, college and NHL teams and make GREAT gifts - either for the holidays or just any time!

- $3,000 profit (last year was 7K - food items); this year was a "start"
- Teachers = minimal interruption to learning and teaching
- Went well - many feel we far exceeded attendance! Every booth had enough for 300 kids to come through and we were out in 45 minutes; spent 750 with PTA (500), Heather's personal, friends, and staff money in addition
- Need to up it next year...1000 dollar budget?
- Work to get more going next year - estimate 450 students
- Review of food provided; 6-7 people brought food - great variety of items
- Suggestion: recipe card next to item
- Teachers raved about the flexibility, the taste, and the presentation
- Book fair also discussed - did well

Fall Fundraiser
Thank you to all parents and students for raising money and participating. We brought in just over 3,000 dollars for this first fundraiser. Bags will be arriving shortly!

Mr. Niemeyer: Crosswalk is being looked into at Elaine right by school as well as Bitterroot and Elaine - if any parents are looking for a one hour job in the morning as well as after school, give Mr. Niemeyer a call at 281-6363. Students will be allowed to dress up for Monster Mash, not on Halloween (due to field trips, etc). Awesome slips - ask your kids! Conferences coming up in November. Hip Hop dancing group is coming up mid-November.
Theresa - PTA Convention: A lot of fundraising stuff; by laws; PTA Values & Mission was shared - suggested to read at every meeting.
Teacher Grant Pack the Place in Pink: usually budgeted $100 for the grant; money went to raffle basket
Saturday Live - Crystal: only 2/3 of booths were there; $708.06 profit; there were volunteers that didn't show - possibly do a lunch for those that do volunteer.
Penguin Patch - Crystal: December 9th - more info coming
Fall Fundraiser (Amanda): Orders due October 12th - we know some will trickle in but we will need them by Friday! Orders should arrive in 2 weeks after orders are placed.

Open House - reviewed process and progress; many that were in hallway awaiting 6pm instead of coming into the gym to hear presentations. Discussed missed opportunities - communication ahead of time. Increasing PTA enrollment by educating parents about time commitment - one hour a month and only a couple hours AT MOST of volunteer time. We will begin using Facebook to communicate as well as this website in hopes that we will reach a larger audience.
State Level - all of the paperwork is complete. Happy dance!

Please save your boxtops to turn in and earn extra cash for our school! The teacher with the most box tops at the end of the year gets a pizza party!
1st grade will once again be collecting empty Capri Sun pouches and recycling them through TerraCycle. Please send empty pouches with straws removed. They can be turned in to any kindergarten or 1st grade teacher, or put in the collection bins in the lunchroom. Proceeds benefit Beartooth Elementary School students. Thanks for your help!

The PTA at Beartooth Elementary is an active and supportive group. PTA is so much more than meetings and fundraising. PTA brings families together and helps Beartooth Elementary offer every child a great educational experience.
